The Office of Research Integrity is Moving - 1/2009

The Office of Research Integrity will be moving to new space in the RR Garage Building located at 407 East 61st Street next week on Friday January 23, 2009. The Office of Research Integrity includes the following research operations: Institutional Review Board (IRB), Adverse Events, Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC), Data Safety Monitoring Board (DSMB), Conflicts Management Program, and Research Integrity.

Although we do not anticipate any major problems or delays in our ability to provide services to the research community during the transition to our new space, you may experience some delays in our responsiveness to your emails and telephone calls as our computers and phone lines are transferred on Friday January 23.

We appreciate your patience during our move.

New CITI Training Policy - 12/2008

Effective immediately, CITI training will only be required for investigators and other key personnel conducting research involving human subjects that is supported by PHS funds.

It is our hope that this change in policy will reduce administrative burdens on the WCMC research community.

Just in Time & 310 Forms - 12/2008

When you receive Just in Time notification from NIH, please be sure to confirm that you have submitted both the grant proposal and any relevant IRB protocols together to submit2irb@med.cornell.edu. If you have not submitted the grant proposal but have submitted the IRB protocol, please submit the grant together with the WCMC IRB protocol number. It is necessary for the IRB to review the grant proposal to verify to the NIH that the work described under the grant has received necessary IRB review and approval. Once that assessment has been made, my office will be able to provide documentation of this assessment in the form of a 310 Form as required by NIH. Please note that the 310 Form comes from the Office of Research Integrity, and is signed by the Institutional Official representing the IRB.

Because of the time sensitive nature of this process, you are encourage to email or phone Mary Simmerling at mcs2006@med.cornell.edu or 212-821-0612, when these documents have been submitted.

New RI Education Webpage - 12/2008

The Office of Research Integrity has a new EDUCATION webpage http://www.med.cornell.edu/research/rea_com/education.html that includes information about the RCN and other educational initiatives and programs.
