Research Overview
Assistant Professor of Psychology in Psychiatry
My work focuses on developing and investigating strategies to improve the uptake and sustainability of evidence-based protocols (EBPs) in geriatric mental health settings, with a focus on studying quality improvement (QI) methods as a means to achieve these objectives. Significant gaps in the quality of geriatric mental health care, and indeed, in health care overall, have been well documented. Research and provider organizations are actively seeking ways to disseminate, implement, and evaluate innovations that improve quality of care. Similarly, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has begun monitoring quality of patient outcomes and will soon begin its Pay-for-Performance initiative. I primarily work with home health agencies to improve their use and adherence to evidence-based protocols for the treatment of geriatric depression.
