Thomas Sheeran, PhD, is a clinical psychologist and Assistant Professor of Psychology in the department of Psychiatry. His research focuses on developing and investigating strategies to improve the uptake and sustainability of evidence-based protocols (EBPs) in geriatric mental health settings, with a focus on studying quality improvement (QI) methods as a means to achieve these objectives. Significant gaps in the quality of geriatric mental health care, and indeed, in health care overall, have been well documented. Research and provider organizations are actively seeking ways to disseminate, implement, and evaluate innovations that improve quality of care. Dr. Sheeran primarily works with home health agencies to improve their use and adherence to evidence-based protocols for the treatment of geriatric depression. Dr. Sheeran's work is supported by an NMH Career Development Award (K Award.)
